Stand & See

Over the last week or so I’ve been indulging myself in my friend, Stephanie Peters, new song called “The LORD is Goodâ€ {Check it out on iTunes!}. This song simply quotes 2 Chronicles 20– a time when God’s people were in dire need of deliverance.

In listening to this song I was drawn to read the story from which this song derived. I found myself reading 2 Chronicles 20 over and over again. Many of us have heard this incredible story before of God delivering His people simply by confusing their enemy and causing them to fight against themselves.

Up until this point though, King Jehoshaphat is faced with a serious crisis. A vast army made up of several countries united together, were coming for him and his people. Immediately the King calls for a time of prayer and fasting amongst his people to seek God’s help.

Out of the mouth of the KING, surrounded by his countrymen, comes an utterance of complete dependence on God, “We do not know what to do but our eyes are upon You. {2 Chronicles 20:12}. The King humbled himself in front of the people he ruled and recognized that ONLY God had the answer to this imminent crisis.

Powerful.

Fast forward to December 2012, I found myself crying out the same words. It’s not that I had a literal vast army approaching to take me out but I was caught in the midst of my own personal war in need of serious breakthrough. The only thing I could do was set my eyes on HIM- the Author of peace, love, HOPE,  joy and BELIEVE breakthrough was on its way.

That is why 2 Chronicles 20:12 had been so precious to me- it was my statement of faith, my statement of perseverance, my statement of resilience in the midst of my own personal crisis.

But it gets better…

One night as I was spending time with the Lord I realized that in my journal, where I had written 2 Chronicles 20:12 something jumped out at me—20:12! I immediately wondered what verse 13 had to say {since it was already 2013 at this point!}. That’s when huge revelation came…and so did my breakthrough.

“All the men of Judah, with their wives and their children and little ones, STOOD there BEFORE THE LORD. {2 Chronicles 20:13, emphasis mine}. At first when I read this I was disappointed, expecting some great revelation, hahaha! but almost immediately Holy Spirit reminded me of another verse, Ephesians 6:13 {13!!}, “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Now I was starting to see the significance! {Sometimes takes me a few minutes! hahaha!}

This is what Holy Spirit then said to me…

2012 was a year of many questions and unknowns. Yet, in the midst of the questions and unknowns because you have kept your eyes on the LORD 2013 will be a year to STAND & SEE what the LORD will do in your midst.

Just as the people of Judah stood before the presence of the LORD believing for an answer {2 Chronicles 20:13} so will we stand before the LORD to receive His reply. And just as the LORD sent His prophet to give word to His people about their soon coming DELIVERANCE, so He will come to us!

Not only will He bring deliverance but as we take up our positions {in His presence!} and as we stand in the midst of our enemies {worries, fears, doubts, questions, natural circumstances} we will SEE Him come through like never before.

All we have to do is heed to Ephesians 6:13—put on our full armor of God {listed in Ephesians 6} and STAND. Our deliverance, strategies and breakthrough will come from a place of REST and PEACE just as it did for those in 2 Chronicles 20.📷

In 2013 we don’t have time for double-mindedness or doubt {James 1}, we simply have to set our eyes on Him and OBEY the strategies He gives for our deliverance.

He is our Deliverer, He is our healer, He is the most creative strategist and He desires to reveal His heart to us in ways we’ve never known before.

In His presence we will receive breakthrough, then we must GO & OBEY the Word of the Lord.

We are living in EXCITING days, Church.

2013= STAND & SEE.
